India’s ace pacer Jasprit Bumrah dismantled England’s Ollie Pope with a devastating yorker that left the right-arm batter stunned on day two of the second Test at the ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium, Visakhapatnam, on Saturday.
Bumrah was firing rockets with the ball on Saturday as he has removed three of England’s most important batters — Joe Root, Pope, and Jonny Bairstow — so far.
After removing Root with an inswinger in the 26th over, Bumrah provided India with another breakthrough as he destroyed Pope’s stumps in the 28th over, leaving no chance for the right-handed batter to defend that delivery.
WATCH
Pope’s wicket was of significant importance as he single-handedly helped England avoid a massive defeat in the first Test in Hyderabad by scoring 196 in the first innings after the entire team failed to stay in front of the Indian bowling attack.
Earlier in the day, Yashasvi Jaiswal completed his maiden double-hundred and helped India score 396 in the first innings before they were all out.
England started the innings well but lost wickets in quick succession after scoring fifty for no loss.
Apart from Bumrah, Axar Patel took the wicket of Zak Crawley while Kuldeep Yadav removed Ben Duckett and Ben Foakes.
By the time this story was published, England was batting at 181/6 in 42 overs with skipper Ben Stokes (17*) and Rehan Ahmed (6*) still on the crease.
